Fruit fly

It’s an inane subject, but I am really tired of fruit flies.

I have no idea where they are coming from and they are sticking to a fly strip in record numbers.

WTH??

They suddenly showed up and won’t go away. I feel like I am swatting at the stupid things all day long as I work. what gives?

There is nothing around (at least according to the articles I have read) that would cause them to appear all of the sudden. But, that article in the last sentence provides some helpful hints on getting rid of them quick.

Guess I’ll be working on some mass murder this weekend.

Rhetorical questions here: Everyone had enough already? Everyone feel like everything is on fire and there is no way in hell you can make it stop? Everyone feel like everything is on fire while there is a tornado whirling around you? A tornado with sharks and snakes and alligators in it?

OK, enough of those questions. I know the answer. That’s why they were rhetorical.

I lied. One more.

Ever wish you could just check out of life like you check out of a hotel room?

“OK, I’m done here. I am not picking up or cleaning. I am not making the bed. Here’s the key. I am moving on. Nothing here is my responsibility any more.”

Yeah, I wish life was that easy.

I have had enough of everyone. Of everything.

Time to start over. Another time. Another place.

Ever feel like that?

That question, it’s not rhetorical. Go ahead and answer.

Got your attention? I thought so.

Anyway, in a little out the ordinary type post, I am going to recommend a book. I don’t often do that. No, I really don’t! I mean, it’s a book, after all.

But, this one is totally worth recommending and I honesty believe it will give you some insight into what is going on in the country at the moment.

The book?

The Naked Communist: Exposing Communism and Restoring Freedom, by W. Cleon Skousen.

This link above is for Amazon, but it is available in other places too. I don’t get any kickbacks for you clicking on that link, so it truly is just something I think is worth the read.

Why?

When you read this book, written first in 1958, in the context of the present (it has been updated for this) you suddenly see what is going on. Actually, it might not be all that sudden since, if you have studied history, you would have recognized the current developments fairly easily.

Social justice movements. Progressivism. Liberalism. Socialism. Democrats (yep, I said it). All of these are a back door to Communism. A Trojan Horse, if you will.

Read this book! Read it with current events in mind. Read it with the past in mind. Read it with the upcoming presidential election in mind.

Seriously.

Mandatory

There is (almost) nothing worse than mandatory training that has to be done yearly. Like seriously.

It takes time. It is the exact same thing every year. You have to be an idiot to not already know the stuff they are asking you to be trained on.

I don’t even pay attention to the video delivered training any more. I have done the same training for 15 years now. Sure, they mix up the questions at the end, but the info presented in these training videos almost never changes. Thus, the questions at the end are basic common sense info.

Ugh. I am on the “drug free workplace” module. Can I stab out my eyes and ear drums now?

It’s just that this stuff being mandatory after the first couple of years is a waste of time.

Anyone have mandatory training they have to do yearly that they dread? What is it?

Fight me

Perhaps I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Ever have one of those days where you just wanna punch everyone?

After a week or so of built up frustration, this morning just feels like I wanna pick fights just so I can punch someone.

I won’t, of course. I am not an animal and I do have some self-control.

And I pretty much work alone, all day in my garage, so there really won’t be any harm inflicted on anyone.

But good golly, I just wanna break stuff.

I am tired of people. I don’t even see that many people most days. But I am still tired of them.

I can understand why people like to live off grid. Away from other people. Away from society. I might not like the complete isolation, but it sure can be appealing at times.

Really appealing.

Watch your face. And I’ll watch mine.

Cool sculpting

I saw a commercial last night for a weight-loss process called, cool scuplting. Apparently this is a trend that is catching on. The way I understand it is that they freeze fat cells and then when they thaw out they magically break down and vanish. At least that is what I gathered from it.

When I did a quick Google search, there are places here locally that offer this interesting (and apparently safe?) weight loss technique/process. So, I guess I could go inquire about it if I was really interested.

Is it covered by insurance? I mean, if not being overweight is more healthy then I would think this should thing should be covered by insurance.

This pandemic thing has cause me to eat. Well, actually, I always eat. It didn’t just start because of the pandemic. But, what I mean, is that it feels like I am eating all the time since I work from home. The scale says I am maintaining, but when I look in the mirror it doesn’t appear as though I am maintaining. Maybe the weight just happens to appear where the mirror can see so I feel like I am gaining weight. Again, the scale says I haven’t. But I am definitely not losing any…

Anyway, I was thinking, since I have weight I could lose, that I could maybe try this cool sculpting thing. I really don’t want to pay for it though. That’s an issue.

I do, however, have a box freezer. A big one! If all you have to do is freeze fat cells then I am set! I don’t need to visit some clinic.

I’m gonna try to clean out some stuff from the box freezer so I can lay down in there. It should only take a couple hours. I’ll freeze all that extra fat around my belly, in my face and neck area, a little on my ass….this is gonna be epic!

Once those couple hours are done, I am gonna be back to the weight was was in high school. She will hardly recognize me.

Oh, I better get started. I don’t want her to find me in the freezer.

I wanna surprise her!

Communication

As a former teacher, and someone who still works in education, let me say this plainly to all the parents out there of school aged children:

IF YOUR CHILD’S (CHILDREN’S) DISTRICT, SCHOOL, OR TEACHER IS TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOU, STOP TREATING IT LIKE IT IS SPAM OR A NUISANCE.

Listen, they are doing the best they can in the worst of circumstances. They don’t wanna be doing school this way. No one does. So, stop complaining and get on board!

Also, any time someone from the district or school is trying to communicate with you about your student(s), pay attention! They aren’t out there to waste your time”just because.” They are trying to make sure the most important person(s) in your life gets the best education possible.

Pay attention.

Engage.

Participate.

Take responsibility for what you can do on your end.

Hold your student accountable – for everything! That means grades, participation, attendance, homework, communication, learning, exploring, etc.

Most of all, hold yourself accountable too! When you participate in your student’s education, your students will be better off in the long run.

Want your student, your child, to have a better life than you had?

Stop making excuses for everything and make sure they get an education.

Unbalanced

Gov race

Local news media’s agenda is showing.

That screen shot above, taken straight from the king5.com website shows a serious and blatant example of bias. This shouldn’t and can’t be acceptable!

Bias? How so?

That pic on the left is actually an older (and younger) photo of the current governor, Jay Inslee. It isn’t his official state picture or campaign photo for this year. That pic on the right is the top Republican challenger, Loren Culp. He is the current police chief in Republic, WA. That pic also isn’t his official campaign photo either.

Why does it matter if neither pic is the official campaign photo? Ask yourself (and be honest) what message is given not so subtly by using the photos they used?

One is just a photo (the one of the left) and the other is playing into mainstream narrative: Republicans, cops, are bad. If he is identified as a cop, then he is bad, …and people won’t vote for him.

Election meddling? Maybe not, but maybe.

Purposeful message? Most likely.

Local news showing bias? Most definitely.

Festival bummer

action adults celebration clouds

This Covid, corona virus stuff is cancelling everything.

Sports. Concerts. Funerals. Weddings. Church. Parades. Street, county, and state fairs. Festivals. If it draws a large number of people, it’s likely been cancelled. They aren’t waiting to do it either. Most everything has been cancelled through the end of the year.

Now, I don’t do, or don’t even like some of those things listed above. But I believe people should have the right, even with precautions, to participate if they choose to do so. However, in a continuing move to scare everyone into compliance, everything is cancelled.

Well, almost everything. Not “protests.” Those are still allowed and even encouraged. Just wear a mask or not…

So, over the weekend, I learned that one of my favorite street festivals here in the county was cancelled. Major bummer. I loved going over to the city about 20 minutes away, parking, and then meandering about the booths looking at cool stuff, art, smelling the smells, and whatnot. It was a lot of fun.

Anyway, that’s when an idea struck me. If “protests” are allowed…HOLD THE STREET FESTIVAL ANYWAY! Hear me out here.

Do it anyway. Hell, all you have to do is slap some social justice slogans on it (pick one or nine, doesn’t matter), paint some signs (or the street, cuz you know that is the “in thing” right now), tell people to wear masks, shout some nonsensical stuff, and let people gather to “protest.” It would almost be like that CHAZ/CHOP thing in Seattle, right?

It’s like the perfect formula to do whatever the heck you want. It’s a license to celebrate, mourn, party, remember, whatever.

This is a great idea. Dare I say, it could even be a “protest” against tyrannical governors and health officials. That would be something. Wouldn’t it?

On the scene

Masked silliness.

It’s particularly hard to watch the news these days. No, I mean like actually watch it. Like tuning into your local news broadcast news and watch reporters reporting from the scene. Any scene.

Anyone else irritated by the fact that a reporter who is reporting from outside, in the open air, still has their mask on?

There is literally NO REASON to have the mask on while you are out in the fresh air. None. Well, other than if you are following (and trying to reinforce) the narrative being crammed down our throats, oh, and if you are virtue signaling.

We all know how the reporting thing works. We’ve seen how you do it for years. We know the person operating the camera for your “on the scene” reporting is likely more than six feet away from you. The reporter isn’t interviewing anyone for this “on the scene” report. Thus, there is no practical reason for having the mask on.

I see it time and again. The other day I saw a reporter who was along the side of a highway, where the wind blows furiously, with his mask on while reporting about cars parked along the highway. Like, he does know he is outside, right? He does know the wind is blowing like the dickens, right? He does know there is not a chance that he can catch or spread the virus while her reports here, right?

It’s actually kind of stupid that these reporters are perpetuating the fear instead of accurately reflecting the guidance we have been given about being out of doors. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen one reporter yet who actually has done a report of this kind without a mask. So, have then been instructed to perform this way?

That’s not objective reporting.

But, we already know they don’t really do that any longer.
