Frosted

Why aren’t all freezers “frost free”?

I am asking myself that as I face the prospect of having to defrost a large chest freezer before stocking it full of beef this weekend.

It can’t really be that the tech is that expensive, so why isn’t a frost free function on a freezer standard? Anyone?

Frosted freezers make the task of making them frost free not very cool. In fact, it burns me up.

**See what I did there? LOL**

A chest freezer should…SHOULD have a drainage spout. I’ve never met a freezer that didn’t accumulate some frost, even if it was just in the corners.

    You buy half a cow?

Oh, yes, it has a drain…but that would require defrosting the whole thing and that takes time, not to mention you have to figure out where to put everything that was inside of it for that whole time.

So, I am going to try and scrap the ice off with a plastic putty knife. We’ll see how that goes.

Not a half this time, only a 1/4. Family raises the steer so I have been getting grass fed beef for over 30 years, before it became a “fad.”

        You eat GOOOOOOOD.

        Good luck on the scraping…

A huge, upright freezer my paternal grandparents had wasn’t prone to much frosting. I don’t even know if those things are still made.

When it comes to beef (and salmon…grew up doing that too), I do eat well.

Upright freezers are still made and they can be frost free too. That is what we replaced…

I’ve always wanted to see that state. I have a friend that is from Puyallup. We met working together in Texas.

I just did a post on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapse.
