Read the fine print

Actually, the print isn’t really even that fine. It is in BOLD, and in CAPS.

Anyone else out there notice this trend?

So, once in a while I come across stuff in the house or garage that is still in good shape and would likely be useful to someone else. It could be worth a little cash, so I have tried selling this stuff on OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace. I have even tried Craigslist. I am not trying to make bank and if it doesn’t sell within the first couple weeks of being posted it usually ends up getting donated to one of the thrift stores in the local area.

BUT, there seems to be a trend of people who don’t really read the description and only look a the price. Here’s the scenario I encounter all too often: I have an item marked “Price is firm” and yet I get low-ball offers that no one in their right mind would accept. Do people really believe items are priced with no prior research? I know what it is worth and I have researched it so it isn’t the highest priced item. I want it to sell! But I am also not going to necessarily give it away either (unless it is truly something that can be donated).

The other trend is that people don’t actually READ the description. An item I have posted right now has been inquired about at least 30 times. It always starts with the “Is it still available?” question. I always follow up with confirmation that it is indeed available but ask if they read the description. Shortly thereafter they respond that they are no longer interested. Obvious proof they haven’t read the description, which clearly states in caps that the tool is NOT CURRENTLY FUNCTIONAL. It needs repair, but it is beyond my capabilities. It is nearly new (as far as use goes) so someone could get some value out of it. However, people are just wasting my time by not actually reading the description and just clicking a button. They are totally distracted by the price.

Anyway, it’s kind of frustrating. But, actually, it doesn’t surprise me anymore. People only see what they want to see.

Have you experienced something similar?

I don’t know what it is about me. Do I look like I really like elevators?

I don’t know why this is, but every time I have traveled for work in the last three years and stayed in a hotel I have been in the room directly across from the elevator.

If you have traveled much, you know that is an issue because people getting off the elevator generally aren’t quiet. They are loud and noisy in the elevator and as they get off the elevator. They typically quiet down as they turn the corner to head down the hallway to their rooms. As such, anyone in the room closest to the elevator gets the brunt of “offload” or “load” noise.

It’s irritating, really.

It definitely doesn’t elevate my stay.

What about staying in a hotel annoys you?

Just gimme an answer

I had a friend in college that would never give a straight answer. He talked in circles. It was amusing at times, and we could spar for an hour or two before it got tiresome. Most of the time I got an answer but it was mental gymnastics to get there.

I have other people in my life who typically “beat around the bush” to give me an answer. They think they are being clear in giving an answer but it just isn’t. It could be interpreted in several different ways and trying to decipher the answer usually leads to more issues I can’t get answers to.

It’s a conundrum I tell you. The more I try to clarify the more frustrated they become because I am told that I am not listening. Really? Because there was no “Yes” or “No” in that answer so how am I not listening? Maybe it’s just that someone can’t speak clearly.

I know I can be a bit black and white at times, but not getting a simple answer to a simple question is frustrating as hell. Just gimme an answer!

Do you have someone in your life that frustrates you by not giving you clear answers?

Fast talker

I have written in the past about a co-worker who talks so fast that she sucks all the air out of the room and doesn’t leave room for anyone else to say anything.

Well, I also have a co-worker that apparently thinks she can read my mind and tries to finish my sentences for me, right or wrong. We can be talking about something and she interrupts to try and say what she thinks I was going to say, only for me to stop and have to redirect her in another direction. She must think she knows everything.

I am pretty sure that means she isn’t really listening, but trying formulate where I am going so she can jump ahead and finish what it is we are working on or trying to troubleshoot.

Irritating. Not to mention it takes more time than necessary because you are always putting her back on the right track.

Tell me something annoying about one of your co-workers. What drives you nuts at work? Let’s commiserate!

Such a sap

Cars are parked in the driveway.

Pine cones, pine needles, leaves, bird droppings, dirt, pollen are all landing on the cars.

The most frustrating part is that isn’t all. Those trees near the driveway, not next to it or over it, NEAR it…somehow they manage to also drop sap on the cars.

Sap! That sticky stuff doesn’t just wash off. No, that would make it easy. That stuff requires extra elbow grease and some of that “Goof Off” liquid cleaner. It’s a little easier when it is on the windshield, but not so much when it is on paint (or on the roof, which is hard to reach for a short guy like me).

Oh, and don’t get me started about not seeing the sap before using the windshield wipers. Hey, let’s smear that crappy sap all over the windshield and make sure it sticks to the  wipers too.

It would be nice if the garage could be used as such. Not gonna happen.

I need staples…

The supply cabinet at the office should do the trick. No, I am not stealing from the office for my stapler at home. These are for my actual work stapler.

Here’s the thing. The office supplies are ordered from an office supply store named “Staples.” Guess what? They have store branded items! Great if you are buying office supplies and want something cheaper than the name brand stuff. Perfect solution.

But wait! What happens when you go to the supply closet/cabinet and open it up looking for staples? Yep. Sure. OK. There are fifty small boxes in the cabinet all with the work “Staples” on them…now I am supposed to look for a box labeled Staples Staples?

Good luck to me. Maybe I didn’t really need staples that badly.

The floor is yours

P-M 100

There isn’t anything easy about it.

I don’t know how some of you do it. It? Post regularly AND have a great following, including interaction with readers and shares.

This ain’t easy. 100 posts and less than 100 followers. 100 posts of Pissing and Moaning about crap in life that’s irritating. Boy it sure feels good some days!

Are you in the same boat? Are paddling with half a paddle and bailing water with a hole in the bucket?

Go ahead, post a struggle or a frustration with blogging below. You now have the floor…

Pets, kids, and parental stupidity

OK, parents, why do we do it?

Do we do it just for the moment of joy we see on our kids’ faces, or are we just secretly gluttons for punishment?

You know we all have gone through the debate with ourselves while at the pet store, or at a neighbor’s/friend’s house, or a relative’s house…the debate is always the same. Ami I right?

I don’t really want to get this animal because I am gonna end up taking care of it. But it would make my child so happy and I do want them to be happy. But, I am gonna be the one feeding it, walking it, cleaning up after it, paying for it, etc., etc., etc.,…Oh, look at her/him smile! This would make me such an awesome parent (maybe even their favorite???). I should totally do this. NO, WAIT, what I am saying, I don’t want more animal puke, animal drool, animal poop and pee, animal whatever whatever whatever. Dang, it is kinda cute. Couch snuggles would be nice. UGH, I am stupid because I know that joy on the face will only last for two days and then it will be battles trying to get him/her to take care of it. I don’t want it. I hate animals. But, it is awful cute. Where will be put it? Who will care for it when we are out of town? This is a really bad idea. I am just gonna say no.

OK, we’ll take it.

Followed by screams of joy and many smiles and “Thank you, thank you, thank you”s.

And now all you can think about is, What have I just done???

Followed by dread and loathing until the animal dies or disappears.

Parents, why are we so dumb? I don’t want more pets and yet the kids still get them and we still end up taking care of them. We knew it and we still did it anyway.

We are lame.

I am not totally sure what that means, but I do know it means whatever I was trying to do on the internet isn’t working, and it is frustrating as hell.

“Page not found.”

“We’ve encountered a problem. Try again.”

“HTTP server not found.”

It all means that whatever is trying to be done ain’t working and everything comes to a grinding halt.

Ugh, tech problems are the worst!

Anyone else have a “favorite” that short circuits their day?
