Ghost power

Weird thing occured today. I am working away in my home office (aka the garage) when I notice something out of the corner of my eye that isn’t right…

Sitting on a shelf to my right is a Lighthouse 400 lantern made by Goal Zero. I have had a couple years and have used is less that a handful of times. I bought it from someone who received it as a gift and didn’t want it. It was in the sealed original packaging when I picked it up.

It caught my attention because it was on, while sitting on the shelf.

It wasn’t that way when I started work this morning.

It caught my attention in my periphial vision because it was blinking slightly and then just came on.

Now, mind you, the power switch for the lantern is not on. It hasn’t been powered on. As it sits next to me now, it is in the off position.

I can turn the lantern on to the right to use both LED lights and return it to the off position. The light stays on. I can turn the lantern on to the left and use only one of the LED lights and return it to the off position. The light stays on.

I have no idea what is going on.

I searched the internet to see if someone else has had a similar issue. I only found one instance and it was a different model and it was after the person had physically turned on the lantern themselves.

So bizarre.

I have contacted the company but haven’t heard back yet.

For now, I am going to leave the thing on an open concrete floor in the garage in case it decides to set itself on fire too…

Raisins?

I got a Christmas package from a relative and it had some treats in it. I love (yes, WAY TOO MUCH) Christmas treats…cookies, fudge, anything chocolate, pretzels, blah blah blah! There isn’t much that I don’t find appetizing this time of year.

So, I was looking forward to one particular treat that appeared in my box – a homemade popcorn ball. I love popcorn and I don’t have popcorn balls all that often so I saved it for another day. It was wrapped in wax paper, but I knew what it was.

I opened it up this morning and seriously debated if I should eat it.

It had raisins in it.

Who puts raisins in popcorn balls?

Well, apparently the answer is, my aunt.

I am not a fan of raisins. Not at all. I like grapes, not raisins.

Just so we’re clear on what happened, I ate it. But it was…different. Can’t say I am particularly fond of that combo. I think we can safely say that popcorn and raisins don’t and shouldn’t belong together. I briefly debated whether I would eat the thing, but the popcorn got the better of me. I like popcorn!

What food combo/ingredient combo has surprised you in the past, good or bad?

Back to work

It is always strange, weird, awkward (whatever) going back to work after being out for a while. It was just two days, but everyone treats you in one of two ways:

  1. You had the plague and they aren’t sure they want to talk to you.
  2. They are glad you’re back and can’t wait to come visit.

I have 100+ emails to get through.

Don’t talk to me.

WTH?

Almost noon and I am just getting to this thing. Bet you thought I wasn’t going to do it, right?

Friday. 13th. Full moon.

Stuff nightmares are made of. There must have been a solar flare last night or something because computer issues and software issues all morning long for clients. Either that or they have forgotten how their stuff works.

Either way it was crazy busy this morning. Hopefully we are in the eye of the storm right now and the backside will be better than the front.

Can I just go home already? I am ready to sit and drink.

Do you notice weird crap going on during days like this or do you think it is just a mental thing?

Survey says? Wait, what?

Just when you think you have seen (or heard, your choice) it all, something happens that sets a new level of absurdity. Ridiculousness. Stupidity.

I took a survey yesterday that asked me if I owned a zebra. Yeah, you see (photo above) and read that correctly. A zebra? Since when is that even legal?

What’s worse is that it was nestled in there so nicely with all the other choices, which happen to fall into the category of “technology.” So, um, who wrote this survey and what were they thinking? Fire that person!

OK, so here’s the weird thing…I also got a survey from the same place asking if I owned an ostrich (amongst other choices of random household items). Is someone playing Candid Camera with me? Am I being Punk’d?

Oh, and what happens if I answered that I did own a zebra? What kind of questions would appear on a survey related to “zebra ownership”?
