Jump, let’s make it real!

There’s a lot of jumping going on these days, only the jumping is not athletic in nature and not physical in value. It does, apparently, work the brain – even if it isn’t in a positive nature.

What jumping am I talking about?

Conclusions. Jumping to conclusions.

Damn it already, if social media (and regular media) isn’t set afire by people jumping to conclusions. Just since Thursday last week, there have been people jumping to conclusions at a record pace. False news. Misleading editing. All to get clicks or push an agenda. And the jumping just keeps getting worse!

The only place I wish people would jump is off a cliff, especially if they would like to find a conclusion. The conclusion can be at the bottom. Dead stop.

Get the facts people. Know the whole story. Investigate. Wait. There is always more than what meets the first impression.

Sound bites and neat, little 7-10 second clips (or a still photo) don’t tell the story.

If you’re going to jump, head straight for some place high with a definite dead-end, conclusion.

Getting tired of hearing ya’ll.

I could have done better. You definitely could have done better.

But thanks for sticking around and taking a look. I hope you can at least relate to the Pissing and Moaning going on around here. It doesn’t take much work to find things to complain about and I am really good at it. But, just in case you have something on your mind, you can always leave a comment or three. Or you could share it with someone you think might enjoy it too. Either way, thanks.

Now, go do something not worth your while. You deserve that much at least.

Political ads suck

I know it is two days late and a dollar short, but who cares.

I know you all agree with me so I am kinda preaching to the choir here, but political ads suck. They are everywhere during political season (mind you we just left one election cycle and the next presidential cycle is about to begin shortly), radio, tv, internet, next to the road, in the mail, social media…and and now also in my texts.

I kid you not, I got a text on election day reminding me to vote (and how to vote on an initiative). So, now we are going to get bombarded in the future with text messages from campaigns…

I didn’t sign anything petition so other than my public voter registration I am not sure how they got my number but this is a bad sign. A bad bad sign.

I should have taken a screen shot of it so I could post it here to prove it, but I was so pissed I deleted the second I opened it to read it. #smh

This ain’t easy. 100 posts and less than 100 followers. 100 posts of Pissing and Moaning about crap in life that’s irritating. Boy it sure feels good some days!

Selling rude behavior

Anyone out there use social media sites to sell the crap they no longer need or want?

It seems there are all kinds of sites out there these days offering the ability to sell stuff. Ebay and Craigslist were really the first ones but since then others have popped up, each attempting to make the process more streamlined and convenient.

You, of course, now have the option (I can’t possibly name them all) of OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, any my wife just found something called TopHatter. All have their own rules and in many ways are pretty similar. I have used both OfferUp and Facebook with mixed results.

Horror story time (OK, not really horror, but rude nonetheless)! It has not happened to me twice…you see an item you want to buy, you inquire about it, you find out it is still available, and then you agree on a time and place to meet (always in public). It used to be that a “gentleman’s agreement” was enough but apparently we live in a society with no honor.

The first occasion was actually a business going out of business and the furniture was for sale. I had to drive 30 minutes to get there but traffic was not great because of a collision. I messaged the seller to let her know I would be a couple minutes late but got no response. When I arrived at the location I was exactly four minutes late. When I walked in the door I found the two pieces I was purchasing and when I went to pay for it the lady said everything in the store had already been purchased by one buyer. I was a little dumbfounded. We had already agreed!! All she said was, “Sorry. You were late so I didn’t know if you were coming.”

The second occasion was just last week. A guy was selling a lawnmower that was near new. He lived in another town 37 miles away, but I worked near there so I asked if I could pick it up the next day since I would be going through on my way home from work. He agreed and we set up a place to meet. An hour after we agreed, he messages me and says, “Sorry, buddy, someone just came and picked it for full price.” Uh, what?? I was going to pay full price and I agreed to purchase it first!

Ok, so those are two of my stories. People not honoring their word. It shouldn’t surprise me because people suck, really. Anyway, OfferUp has a way to rate buyers and sellers but it is ONLY if the transaction actually takes place. So, for the most part, people have positive reviews since they only get reviewed on what they actually sell. There is no way to review sellers (or buyers) when the transaction hasn’t taken place, which is a big fault of the program, I believe. I am sure people have things sold right from under them all the time, but there is no way to report it. That’s a big downside to the program, even if most experiences are positive.

Celebri-Don’t talk to me!

We’re all to blame for this, and we’re all dumber because of it.

Why do we constantly have to be bombarded with the opinions and thoughts of celebrities, former government officials, psuedo-celebs, and athletes? Oh, wait, because we show interest in what they say instead of being indifferent to their opinions.

I tell ya, I am tired of hearing from celebs who think we need to know their opinions. Former presidents endorsing political candidates. Musicians campaigning for politicians. Movie stars telling us what they think about social issues. Former FBI directors telling us whether or not an investigation is legit. B-level celebs making videos about the environment and what we should do about it. Former vice presidents touring the country giving speeches about pet projects. Etc., etc., etc.,…

Good, lord, its amazing we have survived this long.

Wanna make America great again? Stop listening to people who think they’re great. Better yet, stop helping people who think they’re great become great by listening to them.

Ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves.

I wanted to try to avoid this, but unfortunately it has come to this. There are those who promise big things and make it happen, and then there are those who just promise.

There is a well known blogger out there who has a rather large following, about 120,000+ people. He writes about how he can help you grow your blog and the information he puts out seems like good stuff. He has multiple blogs and he puts out pretty much the same stuff on each of them. He even offers services to boost your blog traffic or with design, content, etc. It appeared to be legit, so I followed him, as I am sure lots of others have done too.

Perhaps the large numbers he boasts are just from following everyone himself. Sure, some of those numbers are generated from his content, but my thinking is there are a lot of people out there who play the “follow for follow” game instead of looking for actual good content.

Anyway, other than producing some content about how to blog, he also blasts his followers with requests for money. Obviously, the services he supposedly offers is to generate money for himself, but he also just plain out begs for money – for rent to avoid eviction, for a new laptop, to fix his dental problems, and most recently to buy a domain and start a new project. (That is all since the beginning of THIS year) You all know who I am talking about, right? I probably don’t need to name names here…but if you have any doubt, clicking one of the links will solve that mystery.

So, with some reluctance, I decided to take a chance and purchase one of those services that he was offering on one of his “specials.” The service that interested me was the “One-on-One”, a chance to have him do an in depth review of my blog and then meet with me via Skype and discuss his findings and make suggestions about how to improve it. So I purchased it on July 19th. Why not, this guy apparently knows a thing or two, right?

So far, I haven’t received anything for my purchase other than an excuse (see below) and there has been no communication after that.

Over the last two months, I have tried to contacted him via the TWO different email addresses he had listed and I have also tried via comment on his posts (which are moderated, of course, so I know he has seen them). All to no avail. Silence. He is just plain ignoring me and took my money, which in my book usually makes him a thief.

Anyone else had this experience with him? I am guessing I am not alone in this…

I recommend that you stay away if you have been considering his services.

Punctuate that!

The downfall of society is coming (well, some would argue it is already here).

Dramatic much? No, I don’t think so.

Language is important. Unfortunately, people are lazy and that translates to poor language skills, as well as a plethora of other bad habits. So, what is the deal with the lack of punctuation in nearly every social media platform? Yes, the option to punctuate is available but it seems fewer and fewer people are choosing to do so. Maybe we can blame it on Twitter – 140 characters is rather limiting and why waste it on punctuation? I get it, but at the same time it isn’t cool.

Grandmothers and small children are being eaten, for the love of everything holy! Some classic examples of why punctuation is important:

“Let’s eat grandma!” vs. “Let’s eat, grandma!”

“We just ate Timmy.” vs. “We just ate, Timmy.”

Oh, and while we’re at it, how about we throw in some capitalization as well?

Anyway, I read an article not long ago that said if I use punctuation in text messages, like a period at the end of the sentence, that I am angry. WTH? Who made up these stupid rules? That’s a pretty big ASSumption to make when I am just using the rules of writing because I don’t want to look like an uneducated dumbsh*t. Got me?

Apparently you’ve got nothing better to do

So, apparently, there are people out there with nothing better.

Nothing better to do than engage you in an effort to try and pick a fight on the internet.

I believe they call them “trolls” these days.

Obviously, you can’t avoid them completely, especially if you have an opinion and express it. I know we all have one now and again, and we express them knowing full well that you may be entangled in an argument that will go nowhere but in circles. Yeah, that’s fun…just like a ferris wheel only dumber.

I especially love those kind of trolls that seek you out and ask you questions just so they can try to “get you”. Not gonna do it. Crawl back under your bridge or rock, into your hole, walk back down into your dark and dank basement (we all know where you are, really).

Please, continue to live out your existence lonely and in your underpants.
