Friday vibes

It’s Friday.

It’s sunny.

It’s been a long week.

Friday vibes got me wishing I was anyplace other than working…well, I guess anyplace is maybe a tad of an overstatement. So, how about someplace I’d rather be…

Can I get an amen on that?

Who has the power to give me permission to just bail on work and get the weekend started? Anyone? Anyone?

Time is moving so slowly…and watching that clock doesn’t make it go any faster….

Partied out

It was a long weekend that started on Thursday night.

It was a weekend filled with food, celebration, and family.

Too much family.

Too much planning.

Too much to do to actually enjoy it.

Anyway, three birthday parties in two days…one on Saturday and two on Sunday.

All at my house.

It was a good time, but it was exhausting.

What’s worse is that there is always some family members that are there that you just rather wouldn’t be there. That’s harsh to say, I know, and I love them and all but they just make anything and everything more work.

Everyone had a good time. At least I think so.

I did and I didn’t.

At least it is over. I am partied out. I could care less if there are any more this year.

Negative

I am on the mend. The summer cold was truly that, a summer cold. I doubt many of you out there were worried. I mean, no one really cares, right?

However, my mind was eased by a negative result on the test (you know, that one that many people think they should get the moment they cough). So, I can rest assured that my parents haven’t been exposed by me and they can travel to see their parents in the near future.

And, nothing else has changed either. I am still negative all around too. So, don’t worry. You won’t see much on the positive side here on the blog.

I am thoroughly sure that there isn’t anything good happening in the world today. Perhaps the sky really is falling.

Anyway, we’ll be back to the regularly scheduled Piss & Moan here shortly.

Have a crappy weekend.

Roofing

The roof on the house finally got fixed about three weeks ago. It was a long wait, but I am glad I don’t have to worry about that now.

However, while all of the waiting was going on I decided it would be a good idea to build a lean-to off the side of the garage. It wasn’t at the stage where it could be roofed when the roofers where here, so…I have to do it.

Let me tell you, I am glad I don’t do that for a living. It is hard work!

I already knew this, but it reminded me while I worked on it (during one of the hottest weekends of the summer) Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

It’s not done and I am not looking forward to climbing back up there to finish it. This old, out of shape body, had to take a day off to let some of the stiffness and soreness subside a little.

Maybe that is why I am dreading it today. I know what is ahead of me…

Anyone wanna come finish this for me? It will only be about 84 this afternoon.

Blah!

It’s been that kind of week.

Blah!

Customer service issues that still haven’t been resolved. Radio silence. Crickets everywhere.

Work has been overwhelming in trying to help schools with distance learning with little to no guidance from the state on how they should be tracking attendance, engagement, or even if they need to do it. Every call is a lot of shoulder shrugging, head nodding, what ifs, and apologies for not being more helpful.

BLAH!

It’s Friday.

I have never run a marathon, but is this what it feels like?

I need this weekend like no other.

Huh? *sigh*

It’s only 11:13am and it has already been one of those days. On a Friday, no less. Aren’t Friday’s supposed to be easy?

It’s already a “throw your hands in the air” kind of day.

It’s an Arsenio Hall “Things that make you say HMMMM…” kind of day.

At work.

At home.

With family.

Relationships.

I’m tired.

I’m ready to pack it in.

I’m ready to go some place warm with a tropical breeze, by myself, kick up my feet, and throw back a few cold ones.

Can I return this day? I don’t want it any longer. It’s only slightly used and in like new condition. I still have my receipt.

Flew

Did anyone catch that last weekend? It seemed to have flown by so quickly that I am not sure I even had one!

How is it that our weekends get so busy that we just don’t feel like we had one?

Travel. Activities. Chores. Family. Gatherings. More Travel. Socializing.

I just don’t feel like I had much time for anything, yet I actually did a lot.

But the weekend was gone so fast that I didn’t get much of anything done that I wanted to get done or that I needed to get done.

I think we need more weekends and fewer work days. That should take care of the problem.

Most definitely.

It’s Friday and I need it.

Anyone else feel like this week was extra long and extra trying? Me too.

Estimates are now coming in for the room replacement/repair and, boy, it ain’t pretty. They are about $5-8k more than I expected they would be. Now the challenge is having to find a way to pay for this thing.

Meanwhile, the rainy season continues and the hope that temporary bandaids on the roof are going to work for at least a month (as that is about how long, apparently, it takes to get a HELOC – even when the bank is the one that already owns your mortgage).

So, I will try to survive this day and hope that a couch and a beer will waiting at home will help let the week’s stress go.

How bad do you need this Friday and weekend?

Survival mode

One day. Just make it through the day.

Friday before a long weekend. Will it be busy? The hope is that it won’t be because district employees will be taking advantage of their last long weekend of the summer. Alas, the hope had died on the vine…

We are already running and I don’t think we have hit the ground yet.

The flood of support tickets continues. At one point yesterday, I had six open support tickets and trying to support them all at the same time. Today, I already have two to start with. Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.

Watch out people! The weekend is nearly upon us. Keep your head down today, enter survival mode, and make it through the day. Just one last push to weekend freedom!

Road trip

I’ve got a half day of work today and then I am taking a road trip across the state. It’s for pleasure, but I am starting to wonder why I did this to myself.

This will be the third weekend in a row where I hit the road and cross the mountains to the other side of the state. If you have have been following along, the state of our roads is constant road construction right now…so I just know I am asking for more abuse on the road with traffic and travel time.

Thus, I will try to put on my “patience pants” and not get road rage.

OK, I probably won’t and you’ll be subjected to yet another blog about the perils of travel on the road and the stupidity of Washingtonian drivers.

Sorry, not sorry.
