The CDC recommends…

Body condoms, Naked Gun (the movie)

I am sure you are starting to dread what comes next, after those words, “The CDC recommends…”. It seems the recommendations are about as based in science as they are in absurdity.

So, it should come as no surprise that there will be a higher than usual demand for full body condoms and personal breathing apparatuses (after all, it’s hard to breath in a rubber sack).

The CDC has now recommended that everyone over the age of 12 should wear a full body condom while in public, anywhere, all the time. This of course will prevent you from getting or giving the coronavirus, the flu,, and nearly all other transmissible diseases. There. We have finally gotten to the whole “living in a bubble” idea. Besides, it is also much faster to hose yourself down with bleach (or other preferred chemical) when you return home.

I have no idea why the CDC recommends getting the vaccine. It sure doesn’t meet with common sense if people are still recommended to social distance of at least three feet AND where a mask. I mean, is there really a point if you still have to do those things?

Look, people get the flu shot every year and they still have the possibility of getting the flu. If you get the covid vaccine then you still have a chance of getting covid. I get it. But, much like the flu, the severity of symptoms is minimized. That’s why they recommend getting the flu shot. So, the logic behind all of this is completely counter to what has happened in the past.

If someone doesn’t want to get the vaccine, they shouldn’t have to wear the “Scarlet U” of a facemask. Those who are vaccinated are technically protected against covid. Those who remain unvaccinated know the risk they are taking and for those who took an unproven vaccine knew the risks they were taking.

There are lots of things out there the CDC now recommends. If you want a laugh, do a search….or read the headlines. Either way works.

Destructive behavior

Photo by Markus Spiske on Pexels.com

Have you ever had a sudden urge or desire to engage in destructive behavior, either physically or mentally?

I am not sure what triggers the feelings (and I am totally in control, mostly), but two destructive behaviors I am currently contemplating:

  • Eat everything in sight.
  • Fight, either physically or verbally, everyone.

I know there are lots of other destructive behaviors out there and these are relatively minor compared to some, obviously, but today this is what I am dealing with.

Anyway, maybe it’s the fact that my “don’t give a damn” meter has reached beyond critical. Maybe it’s that I am tired, super super busy, and only marginally motivated.

I don’t know.

How do other people deal with this?

I know this is a passing feeling. It won’t last. But today, the feeling is strong. very strong.

What do you do?

Turned on it’s head

There are a whole lot of things in this crazy, mixed up world that have been turned on their heads. It seems the “upside down” (without the scary monsters…ok, maybe just different monsters…) is for real and we are all living in it now. We can’t avoid it and it seems kicking and screaming about it won’t change it either.

I got an indication of what going back to work (like actually back to the office – because I have been working the whole time) is going to look like, and I don’t like what I am hearing.

So, the head honcho has said that when it is time to be back in the office (projected as August 1, right now) that you will have to wear a mask unless you are vaccinated and they have documented proof that you are vaccinated.

My frustration level, and my irritation level, have hit all time highs now. As I am sure you are aware if you have been reading this blog (does anyone actually do that or do you just click?) for any amount of time over the last year, that I am strongly against people providing proof of vaccination in any manner whatsoever. I believe it is a violation of privacy, leads to segregation and discrimination.

But, it appears that we are going to throw hundreds of years of vaccination understanding out the door in the name of fear.

Mainly, what’s the reason for getting a vaccination?

The simple answer is to protect someone from contracting a disease. Does it completely work in eliminating the risk? No. A vaccinated person can still get the disease, but the likelihood of it being as severe as what an unvaccinated person would experience is reduced greatly.

Immunity, as we have come to understand it, is developed through “active” exposure (coming in contact naturally) and “passive” exposure (being given a vaccine). So, as more and more people have been exposed to Covid (via either method) the more people who are protected against it.

We have seen this for years and years and years with polio, measles, mumps, small pox, chicken pox, etc. Childhood vaccinations were endured by many. We also see many people who get through the flu shot every year because they want to avoid the effects of the flu (or at least as much as possible).

So, if we understand how the shot works for the flu and all the other vaccinations, why are there demands for people to continue wearing masks when there is no reason to?

If you have had the flu shot, do you need to worry about people who haven’t had the flu shot? Do we make those people wear masks at work?

If you have had the measles vaccination, do you have to worry about people who haven’t had the measles vaccine? Do we make those coworkers without the vaccination wear a mask at work?

Do people who haven’t had a vaccine worry about the people who have had the vaccine? If someone chooses to be unvaccinated and not wear a mask, should they worry about getting the disease? No, because the likelihood of getting goes down with each person who has developed immunity to it one way or another.

As I look at the “rules” for going back to the office, I can’t help but wonder where we decided to turn everything we know about vaccinations upside down and ignore hundreds of years of practice simply because this one disease has caused so much undo fear.

If the vaccinated aren’t afraid of other vaccinated people, then do they need to be fearful of unvaccinated people? NO! They are protected. That’s why they got the vaccination in the first place!

Gosh people are stupid.

Perhaps I’ll start looking for a job where I don’t have to go into an office any longer. Anyone got a job offer that would allow me to work from home and allow me to earn what I currently earn? I would seriously consider it. Seriously.

Well, well, well…

Interestingly enough, it may turn out that Dr. Fauci is more politician than scientist.

“Follow the science” they say.

Something else they should be following is the truth. Because it certainly appears that what was being said in private and what was being said in public don’t exactly align with each other. Yes, one can change their opinion about something, but as we have learned all along during this ordeal – people knew more than they were letting on and the truth wasn’t always being told.

Was this crisis manufactured for political gain? Monetary gain? I don’t know. But there are definitely some things that appear on the surface to point in the direction that personal freedoms have suffered (and will continue to suffer) far greater than actual medical necessity demanded. Lasting implications and trends are doing far greater damage to society than the actual illness.

I am sure of one thing. There will be more developments in this story.

What’s your take?

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

OK, so here’s a different question for you. What would you do if given advice by someone with questionable personal demonstration of advice given?

Let’s say for instance:

  • Do you take driving advice from someone who has dents and scratches all over their vehicle?
  • Do you take construction advice from someone who has a house that is falling apart?
  • Do you take weight management advice from a doctor who has a weight problem themselves?
  • Do you take cooking advice from someone who can’t find a job in a restaurant?
  • Do you take fishing suggestions from someone who can’t catch a fish?
  • Do you take writing advice from someone who can’t write?

I think you get the point.

What do you do with advice from someone who doesn’t seem to put said advice to practice in their own lives?

Do you dismiss the advice outright? Do you take it into account and go your own way? Do you follow it and hope you didn’t get set on the wrong path?

Is there any reason to take advice from someone who appears to not take their own advice?

Drop your thoughts in the comments. I am looking forward to a lively discussion!

Drag on

Or draggin’. Dragging.

Today. Is. Dragging. On. On. On.

Good grief.

It all started with an alarm that told me to get outta bed. Like most week days. Like most work days. The mistake was I listened.

The weather has turned sloppy. It’s cool and freary.

The software is hung up. It is slow as molasses today. Dragging, dragging, dragging.

This would be a better day just left to do nothing. Well, at least nothing of consequence.

It’s an uphill, uphill battle today.

How about a reset?

I’ll just go back to bed and try again tomorrow.

Friday vibes

Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Pexels.com

It’s Friday.

It’s sunny.

It’s been a long week.

Friday vibes got me wishing I was anyplace other than working…well, I guess anyplace is maybe a tad of an overstatement. So, how about someplace I’d rather be…

Can I get an amen on that?

Who has the power to give me permission to just bail on work and get the weekend started? Anyone? Anyone?

Time is moving so slowly…and watching that clock doesn’t make it go any faster….

You’ve been duped

This shouldn’t come to you as a shock, but you’ve been duped into thinking you need to wear a mask outdoors (if you are actually one of those wearing a mask outdoors) and it’s created a whole spectrum of baseless fears.

Of course, if you have little critical thinking skills or have used that skill very little as of late then this probably is a shock. If you have been wearing a mask while you do nearly any activity out of doors, well, you’re an idiot.

There was never any science behind the idea that you needed to wear a mask out of doors, but the CDC (Center for Disease Control) told you something different. That info, as it turns out and was highly suspect to begin with, was completely off base. They don’t even track whether there was ever any outdoor transmission here in Washington. (oh, btw, that guy in the top pic is the WA governor – who says he relies on science…that doesn’t exist).

“I’m sure it’s possible for transmission to occur outdoors in the right circumstances,” Dr. Aaron Richterman of the University of Pennsylvania told me, “but if we had to put a number on it, I would say much less than 1 percent.”

NYT article linked above

The “right circumstances” the doctor above is referring to, are listed by another doctor in the article above. Basically those “right circumstances” are “crowded places or close conversation.” Less than 1%? Really?? Weird how we were all mislead to think it was 10%, which is already a small number and caused irrational few for people all over the place.

Since the truth is out and science, apparently, isn’t all it is chocked up to be, throw caution to the wind (literally).

STOP WEARING A MASK OUTDOORS!

There is no need, unless of course you just want to continue to prove you’re an idiot.

Riddle me this

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

Are vaccination cards really that necessary? We don’t need them and don’t get them when people get the flu shot. So, I feel like the push to get a vaccination card doesn’t take into account one medical fact – if you had Covid, you don’t need a vaccine.

At least that is what we have been told about how natural immunity and our bodies work.

We have always been told for years and years and years that when you get sick with something, your body’s immune system kicks into gear to fight it and builds immunity to it on it’s own. The next time your body encounters the sickness you either are less likely to get it because of immunity or your body has already established antibodies and the sickness is less severe each and every time you get it thereafter. Eventually, you become immune to it altogether (at least until it mutates).

Does this not apply to Covid?

If you have had Covid, your body went into it’s natural cycle of building immunity to it. Your body fought the sickness and it won. Congrats! You now have naturally built immunity to it. That isn’t to say that you can’t get it again, but that your body is now less susceptible to it. If this is the case, them why would you need to get a vaccine?

As such, I believe someone has forgotten to ask the question about those who have already had Covid – if someone already has had it, then there is no need for a vaccine. If there is no need for a vaccine, then there is no need for a vaccination card. If no vaccination card, then you will be discriminated against when trying to do activities you have done all your life…

Yeah, that makes sense.

The whole vaccine card thing wreaks of control.

So, riddle me this, what about those who have had Covid and don’t need to get a vaccine but need a vaccine card to participate in society? What do we do about that?

Coercion, not freedom

Photo by Vijay Putra on Pexels.com

Hold up!

I think we have started moving the “free to choose” idea into the Soviet establishment of Communism. Lenin and Stalin used to like giving people the feeling like they had the ability to choose…only to find themselves in front of a firing squad or shipped off to a gulag in eastern Siberia. “Sure, you have a choice…my way or the highway…”

Here’s another historical example for you – the Nazis used to ask for “papers” at checkpoints to prove you were or weren’t a Jew. In modern terms, you are now going to have “checkpoints” to determine your eligibility to enter based on your vaccination papers. “Your papers, please…vaccinated to the right, unvaccinated to the left…”

If this whole topic doesn’t scare you as an American citizen, then I am not sure what it will take to wake you up. If this is acceptable now, then where does the line get drawn? Moreover, what other lines will be drawn and socially acceptable as time goes on?

The news about allowing for “vaccinated only” sections is sanctioned discrimination, it is also coercion, which is not the same as “freedom.” Essentially you are telling people that if they want to participate in activities they did before the pandemic that they are going to have to be forced to get the vaccine.

Let’s think about this from this point of view?

  • Have we ever asked if someone has gotten the flu shot before allowing them to enter any facility or venue?
  • Have we ever asked for vaccination proof for measles, mumps, rubella? Diphtheria? Polio?
  • Have we ever verified that someone doesn’t have hepatitis before they are employed or attend a sporting event?
  • Have we essentially banned people with HIV/AIDS from participating in regular societal activities?

No?

Then why would this be any more acceptable? *HINT: It’s not.”

Medical decisions should be between you and your physician, or others you specifically designate. It shouldn’t be subject to “passports,” or proof, to participate fully in society. Anything that allows for someone other than those you designate to decide whether you participate in regular society would be medical discrimination.

Anything other than totally opened and accessible to all citizens, regardless of vaccination status, is just another brick in the road towards a social system that resembles precisely what America was designed not to become.
