Last minute

Despise.

Irritation.

Annoyance.

Let’s just say, I don’t like it when people wait till the last minute to do something and then act like it is everyone else’s fault when it doesn’t get done on time. Oh, and they take it out on everyone around too!

Like seriously? You had all freaking day to get it started. It’s not like the schedule right now had ya so busy that you didn’t have time. So why exactly did you wait until the last minute to get started?

Want me to help? OK. Fine. I can do that. Wait? Gonna yell at me because of the way I am helping? OK. I’m out. I’m done. Handle it yourself. I’ll be over here minding my own business while you scramble to correct your procrastination. Good luck with that.

Co-workers? Spouse? Kids? Extended family? All of them – check!

What is with people? Why do they do it to themselves, let alone others?

Anyone else had it up to their ears with these kinds of issues? Especially these days since our daily lives and schedules aren’t as full as they used to be?

 

 

No, I’m sorry

19 days.

For that.

I waited 19 days to hear from HR about a question I asked to get in response, “No, I’m sorry.”

GEE, thanks. Good thing I didn’t ask an important question.

I asked if they knew the “program code” for a supplement to the healthcare program provided by the state. Not a tough question. Not one that I expected would take 19 days to answer.

When I submitted the question I anticipated an answer in a day or two. I figured it would be something they knew since it was provided by the state and encouraged by the state to participate. They should know this, right? I though so too.

After a couple of days of hearing nothing, I was wondering what was going on. Mind you, after seven days I no longer needed the answer I was looking for. I gave up trying to get signed up. After seven days I figured someone might be trying to track down the information since they should probably know this to pass along to others who  might need it.

After two weeks of hearing nothing I just assumed the HR department had decided to ignore my question so I forgot all about the fact that I even asked it.

On day 19 I get a “No, I’m sorry.”

There’s no ‘Sorry it took so long to get back to you’ or ‘I tried finding the information and had no luck.” No ‘You’ll have to work with the program provider to get that info’ or ‘Here’s a number you can try.’

So, I can only conclude that little to no effort was put into my question and therefore the response AND getting any info, let alone a response, from the HR department in a timely manner is out of the question. I can also assume that when this email was seen 15-18 days ago it was too much trouble to respond with the “No, I’m sorry” then.

NO, I’m sorry I asked…

Yo, dude, never mind me. I wasn’t standing here, in line, waiting my turn like a civilized person.

Ever had that happen to you? Of course you have. I am sure it happens way more often than you’d like, in fact. Because, you know, the people who read this blog are all rational and intelligent people who like order.

In the last week, it has happened at Starbucks and Home Depot. Minding my own business, waiting patiently for my turn in line, when some jackwagon walks up and jumps in line without looking to see if there were people in line. Yes, lady, we’re all just standing here for our health.

Confession time…about a month ago, I was that jackwagon. It was totally not on purpose though and I apologized PROFUSELY when I discovered that I had jumped in line in front of people who were waiting. It was at the grocery store and they were standing in an aisle waiting for the register to open up (in my defense, they were more than 8 feet away). I looked. It didn’t appear at first glance that people were waiting, so I jumped in line. Only as I got started on the self-checkout that the lady standing in the front of the line in the aisle came to start her self-checkout did I realize that there had been a line. She was gracious and didn’t curse me out, but good grief did I feel bad.

The Starbucks lady? She didn’t feel bad at all. I guess her overwhelming need for that frappe just overrode her sense of common decency and humanity. The guy at Home Depot? Yeah, no such remorse from him either. He just dragged the store associate to another aisle and took his sweet time asking questions while the rest of us waited for the associate to come back.

So, in conclusion, let’s all slow down a little today and take it easy. Nothing is really that important. Be courteous. Be kind. Be patient. Be polite.

Be in line.

The long pause…

You know what I dislike greatly about texting with someone? The long pause between responses.

Now, I understand if there isn’t an actual conversation going on. You know, a text here or there because you both are busy and whatnot. But what I really dislike is that after say 12-15 texts, all of the sudden they appear to have disappeared. Minutes tick away as you wait for a response…then you get a response so you respond immediately and then it takes more minutes to get a response…irritating, I tell ya. If you can’t talk or continue the conversation, just say so.

Am I the only one who thinks it rude?
