Confirmation.

Only it isn’t the kind our state needed or wanted. Yet, we now know without a doubt that the governor and the health department had an alternative agenda. Revelations like this have a pretty serious implication on the state’s economy, but literally on lives of people who never had the virus, won’t ever have the virus, but are struggling with the isolation or unemployment.

Not only is our state the victim of a massive fraud in unemployment claims, but the governor seems unwilling or unable to deal with it. Instead, he cancels his usual briefing and sends an underling to take the heat. Leadership, eh?

Now, we have confirmation on how the governor’s agenda has played out. Many people, in states all over the US, have suspected for a long time that deaths in their states were being reported as “covid deaths” even though the person died of other causes. Pad the numbers. Make it look worse than it is. Justify lockdowns and killing jobs/the economy by making a totally survivable illness more dangerous than it is. Inflate the numbers for an agenda.

Are you people paying attention to what is going on in your state? Your country? Are you taking the government at its word or are you just hunkered down in fear, waiting for when they tell you “it is safe to come out”?

Conspiracy? No. But there are definitely some who are taking advantage of you while you are living in fear and being distracted by infectious chaos. Do you still believe that all who are in government are looking out for your best interest? If you do, no matter what side of the aisle you are one, then you’re naive at best…but I fear that maybe, if you are one of those who takes everything the government and media tells you without skepticism and cynicism, that you are something worse than naive.

And that is something to fear.

Money tree?

Apparently the Democrats have a money tree they aren’t telling people about. Actually, it must be more than one, because there is no explanation of how this government give-away can be paid for, let alone sustainable.

What I can’t figure out is where they think the money for this is going to come from. Higher taxes? Who can pay those since many business are shut down? Oh, and since business are shut down, they’re laying off or furloughed their workers. And those workers don’t have money to spend at the businesses that remain open. The business that remain open? Well, they reduced hours and laid people off.

You see how this works, right? The cycle the economy follows is self-generating. In order for it to work, all parts have to be working efficiently and effectively. There is no part of an economy that doesn’t rely on another part of itself to work, removing parts keeps it from working.

Guaranteed Minimum Income. Universal Basic Income.

Two bad ideas and perhaps this is all about a dress rehearsal for those. Sounds great on paper but doesn’t work in reality or practicality. It’s been tried and nearly always/completely leads to disaster. But the socialists in the country are gonna keep on pushing it because you know, the mirage of utopia is just one the other side…

Perhaps its an attempt to buy votes for the upcoming election in November.

“Look what we tried to do (or did) for you! But those big bad, typically small government and more fiscally responsible Republicans kept us from giving you free money that we don’t have and can’t afford. Aren’t they mean? They’re keeping you on the bottom on purpose by not giving you the opportunity to receive free money instead of earning it. “

If a politician is telling you that you can get something for nothing, you better look real hard and ask a lot of questions. It ain’t true, no matter what they tell you! There is always a cost, and it definitely won’t be what you think it is and it won’t be the first thing you find. Dig deeper.

Hype

It’s getting rather old, isn’t it?.

Conflicting messages about what we should be afraid of…Covid-19, murder hornets, SARS, the flu, cancer, pollution, eggs, aliens, Russians and collusion…you name it and it’s likely been on the list at some point.

Sure, some are dangerous and some are likely even deadly. But to the extent that they would like us to believe? Not even remotely.

There have been lots of jokes on social media about the next big threat coming this summer, as in the Biblical plagues on the Egyptians or a really bad game of Jumanji.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t take much scrutiny to figure out there is something fishy going on. Rules apply to some, but not to others. Justice moves swiftly when those in power want it to move swiftly.

24 hour news cycles and billions of clicks later, there are definitely winners and losers are in this whole thing.

Some experts are more powerful than other experts. How does that happen? Whom is deciding who or what should be listened to and who we shouldn’t listen to?

There are a lot of questions these days and we, as the public, should be asking hard questions and then asking even harder questions. Maybe hunkering down and hiding in fear was the best answer, but maybe it really wasn’t.

What I do know is that I am tired of the hype.

Holier than thou

Alright, I am sure this will likely irritate people. Do I care, really? Nope. Have I ever given that impression?

I am tired of people complaining about other people “violating” the “stay home, stay healthy” mandate, as though they are holier than other people.

The reality of it all – you can only control you.

If someone wants to violate the mandate (which may or may not be Constitutional), that is their prerogative. Right? If people aren’t going to live in fear but have common sense and try to go about their daily lives as much as possible, that’s on them. That isn’t your concern.

If someone chooses to see their children or grandchildren in the front yard of their home with little or no contact, that isn’t your concern. If they decide to let them in the house and give each other hugs, that still isn’t your concern.

If someone decided they want to work on a new deck (or any other home improvement project) and need to go to Home Depot to get supplies, that isn’t your concern.

If someone wants to go for a drive, or for a walk, or go camping, or go fishing, or fly on an airplane, or sit on a park bench by themselves, or go windsurfing/paddleboarding…none of that is your concern.

If someone doesn’t want to wear gloves, or a face mask in public, not your concern.

Stay home. No one is forcing you to have human interaction. You can only control you.

If you are going to live in fear, stay home. If you want to hunker down and not see the light of day or get fresh air, that’s your choice. If you wanna live in the TV news cycle and hear about all the bad new, or whatever, that’s your call. If you wanna isolate yourself from the world, more power to you. BUT, keep it to yourself. You can’t and shouldn’t try to control others.

You are not the social police nor should you act like one. Don’t be hiding behind the curtains and reporting people because you don’t think they are beings “safe.” Not your call to make.

This looks different for everyone and their needs are different than yours.

You do you. You are only responsible for protecting yourself and how you do that is your choice.

You aren’t responsible to protect other people. That is their responsibility and if they choose not to do it the way you do it, then they are doing themselves the way they see fit.

Don’t forget the whole thing about pointing fingers…yeah, you know what I am talking about.

Serial “like”r

Are you a serial LIKEr?

You’re probably asking, “What does that even mean?”

Urban Dictionary

It’s not a perfect definition though. I think it should be adjusted to mean “people on social media platforms who ‘like’ posts or blogs to generate interest in their own accounts, never actually reading or interacting with the ‘liked’ post or account.”

Does that make more sense?

You have probably noticed it too. People who “like” your blog often but have never left a comment of any sort in the past, nor do they intend to in the future. I am not saying I haven’t been known to leave a like or two without comment, but I try to interact with every blog at some point. It might not be on a regular basis, but leaving a comment now and then (one that actually demonstrates that you read the blog) goes a long way for building loyal readers and followers.

If you just “like” with the hopes that someone visits your blog, well, your “like” is disingenuous and you didn’t really “like” it at all.

Leave a comment. Spark a conversation between you and the blogger, or other readers of the blog. Create some interaction. Then those “likes” at other times might be appropriate and actually considered genuine.

Otherwise you’re just a fake “like”r. Don’t be a fake.

No reminder needed

Anyone else tired of being reminded to wash their hands? ME TOO!

I was watching “The Ranch” on Netflix and this came on. It seemed rather appropriate considering the news and the inundation of the message to wash your hands.

How many of you have seen the paper of “songs you can sing” while washing your hands go up at work? Annoying. Really. How many of you have actually witnessed someone singing while washing? Even MORE annoying!

The way I see it, you are either a hand washer or you aren’t. There isn’t any amount of pleading that will change it. It might change habits in the short term (if at all) but I highly doubt it.

A little humor will get you a long way in a crisis.

Sorry for the language, but it was unavoidable.

Mixed messages

I know for a fact that I don’t need to stock up on TP. That is already clear.

What I am more concerned about is whether or not there will be a shortage of hazmat suits, thus a significant rise in the zombie population.

I don’t feel like the government is addressing this concern. Can we just get some clarification? Do I need a hazmat suit now, or should I wait for demand to overrun the supply so I can pay a price that is in effect equivalent to price gouging?

I mean, I really have an aversion to having zombies and REALLY have an aversion to having my brains eaten (or other body parts – depends on the type of zombie). I know I can start training now to get in physical shape to outrun some zombies, but I am not sure I can social distance myself from all of them, again it depends on the type of zombie.

The government has really fallen down on it’s recommendation here. I am getting mixed messages….

Is there a danger of a zombie apocalypse or not? Do I need a hazmat suit and to begin training to be in top physical condition or not?

I am just trying to determine my next course of action and the mixed messages aren’t helping.

TP

feac8be9-d942-4a33-a205-c7336d0bcb30

What the heck ya’ll doing?

I hope you aren’t one of those crazy people out there hoarding toilet paper for no damn reason! Seriously! Covid-19 ain’t got nothing to do with your pooper, people. You all are just going “5150” on us.

People fighting in the aisles of stores? Costco limiting purchases and having to hand out the TP? Empty store shelves wherever you go? Good grief people, TP isn’t gonna keep you from getting the virus and it sure as hell isn’t needed if you had the virus. All you really have done is create a black market for TP.

Ya’ll done “wiped” out the stores. I wish I was making this sh*t up. Get your mind “outta the toilet” and wash your hands instead. Let’s “flush” this nonsense asap.

See, now you got me all making puns for funs because people ain’t got the runs.

If you are one of those hoarders, STOP! Ain’t no poop emergency.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is a weird thing.

No, I haven’t been sponsored yet, but if you would like to, just leave me a note in the comments and I’ll follow up.

Anyway, on my trip last week I was at the Phoenix Suns game and I noticed in lots of different places that they had things going on around the arena that were sponsored by a college. Northern Arizona University, to be specific.

To be clear, I know nothing about this college. I don’t really care to know anything about this particular school. But, what I do know of colleges in general is that they are expensive – usually for no good reason other than they are trying to make a profit (even the supposed “non-profit” schools).

Therein lies the rub for me.

Sponsorships are usually something that has to be paid up front so you can have your name plastered all over the event, product, or other whatever. So, the way I see it is that this school sponsored events at a professional sports game and arena so that it could be noticed and maybe more students would enroll there. One can only assume at this point then is that the school is jacking up tuition and fees so that it can pay for official sponsorships at high profile locations like professional sports teams and arenas, which by the way don’t really need any help with promotions.

Why is college expensive? One of the many reasons is because of unnecessary crap like this. I highly doubt they can show that promotions at this venue have generated sufficient enrollments to cover the cost of the sponsorship.

Colleges shouldn’t be allowed to do sponsorships, period.

Tell me I’m wrong. Well, try to anyway.
